Pakrineeme LNG Loading Arm Installed by RVT Ehitus

RVT Ehitus has completed the installation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) loading arm, along with a hydraulic power unit, at the mooring quay in Lahepera Bay, Paldiski. The work, costing 600,000 euros, was commissioned by Elering, and the winning bid was made in collaboration with Mapri Ehitus.

Taavo Säärits, CEO of RVT Ehitus, mentioned that a suitable crane ship was required to submit a bid for the Elering tender. “Given that the 50-ton loading arm is significantly higher than sea level and required a crane ship capable of lifting at least 40 meters, the selection of cranes in our region is very limited. Fortunately, we were able to rent a crane with a lifting capacity of 330 tons from Poland,” Säärits explained.

The loading arm arrived in Estonia by road and was assembled on the quay at Paldiski North Port, to be hooked onto the crane ship and transported around the Pakri Peninsula to the installation position on the mooring quay. “We were lucky with the weather when the crane ship arrived; after one stormy day, we had a very calm and beautiful sunny day, which allowed us to complete the installation,” said Säärits.

According to Reigo Kebja, Member of the Management Board and Asset Manager of Elering, the collaboration on the loading arm installation went very smoothly. “I am very pleased that there were no significant obstacles, weather or technical, that could have disrupted the installation schedule. The partner was meticulously prepared for the installation and had considered all possible scenarios in advance, which certainly facilitated the success of the project,” Kebja said.

Säärits believes that the installation of the loading arm provides additional security for Estonia’s gas consumers, as the country has different options for gas supply. He also hopes that this will encourage manufacturing companies to plan and invest in Estonia, developing industries that require large-scale energy and providing jobs for builders, the technology sector, suppliers, and workers.

RVT Ehitus, which specializes in environmental and industrial construction, had a turnover of 7 million euros in 2023 and employs six specialists. Their completed projects include the reconstruction of the mechanical treatment stage at Tallinn’s wastewater treatment plant, construction work for Estonian Cell’s biogas plant and aerobic wastewater treatment plant, the expansion of Raumedic Estonia’s production building, and cleanroom installation work.

We organized Esvika Elektri’s Oktoberfest!

What better way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the electrical equipment supplier Esvika Elektri than with Oktoberfest, complete with music, entertainment, and beer?

Assisted by Schweineaxe, Bratwurst, Apfelstrudel, and other Bavarian culinary delights. The event’s dress code was Lederhosen und Dirndl, and it was adhered to splendidly! DJ Dr. Siren took guests on a virtual journey to Germany via screens, while Marko Matvere and VLÜ kept the crowd positively charged. Excitement was kept high with social and lucky games – beer crate holding, nail hammering, hay bale basketball, and popping lucky balloons. The day concluded with a magnificent drum show by the Siimus. Dr. Olof Wassenwuffel and his wonderful ladies Birgit and Katerine hosted the evening.”

Bees Have Moved to the Roof of Ülemiste Centre

Beehives were installed on the roof of Ülemiste Centre this spring. The first honey harvest has already been collected, said to be even more delicious than honey gathered from rural areas. Initially, six hives were placed on the roof, each housing 20,000 bees.

‘That’s about as many as the number of visitors to Ülemiste Centre every day,’ laughs Tiiu Nõmm, responsible for sustainable business practices at Ülemiste Centre. According to urban beekeeper Sander Noormägi, there are now even more bees on the same roof: six main colonies and four daughter colonies, each with around 50,000 bees.

The buckfast breed of bees, originating from Karusauna Farm in Väike-Maarja, which moved to the centre’s roof, are described as so calm that beekeepers can work near the hives without protective gear or smoke. Through crossbreeding, the best honey-producing traits from various lineages of buckfast bees have been combined, making them excellent foragers.

Our creative director Erik delved deeper into the process, resulting in a short film, of course:

A Sports and Padel Centre is Coming to Lasnamäe, Tallinn

The cornerstone was laid for the Paepargi Sports Hall in Lasnamäe, Tallinn. The center, scheduled to be completed next year, will offer 3,700 square meters of usable space, with 2,800 square meters dedicated to padel. Additionally, a 24/7 fitness club will be established on the second floor. The sports hall is being constructed by Mapri Ehitus.

Toomas Mälberg, the managing director of Paepargi 11 LLC, the developer of the sports hall, emphasizes their aim to provide the best facilities for padel players. ‘Lasnamäe is the largest district in Tallinn, and its residents will benefit greatly from the arrival of this new sports center and the opportunity to play this relatively new sport in Estonia,’ he confirms.

Tarmo Roos, CEO of Mapri Ehitus, highlights that constructing sports centers aligns well with the company’s team. ‘We have built several modern sports centers, with the latest being the Ring Õismäe completed last year. We were awarded Sports Friend 2022 by the Olympic Committee, our team members are avid sports enthusiasts, and several will participate in the Ironman triathlon in August.’

Andrus Neider, project manager at Mapri Ehitus, mentions that in addition to the already common solar panels on the roof, an interesting Cor-Ten steel facade solution will be installed. This facade acquires a rusty color over time while remaining highly durable.
